Apparently some loser felt the need to report this and say it needed a mature tag rather than just, you know, reminding me in the comments. So you are warned. One image has artistic and mild nudity. Nothing graphic or provocative, just nude for reference.
Tutorial for this picture:
A lot of other tutorials and resources were mentioned so here they are in order (let me know if I missed one):
My digital painting basics - a tutorial that shows you thinks like brush types and locking layers:
I don't know if I mentioned this one, but she also has a great old people tutorial you should see: [link]
The better way of doing veins and other such skin details by ~acidlullaby XD [link]
And the great texture brushes by *nathie (who has several great tutorials) that were made for fabric but I used for skin: [link]
Finally, the smoke brushes ~tezrin created that I used in the BG: [link]
About the tutorial itself
So yeah, people have asked me how I paint linelessly in the past and this is sort of a vague representation of how. I see loads of lineless ones that are never really lineless and it annoys me.
It's messy and lazy and full of typos, I know XD Don't bother pointing them out, I really want to move on now. I wasn't going to post it at all originally but I wondered if someone might find it useful after all and my poll said people wanted it so I thought I'd stick it up anyway.
Sorry it's not very neat. But I guess this isn't supposed to be a work of art, it's just supposed to help you make one XD It's really more of an extended walkthrough than a tutorial.
If it helps you, I'd love to know ^^ Thanks for reading!
I'm sure there are loads of inaccuracies or things that could be done better, so if anything happens to pop out at you as super wrong, feel free to let me know
But this was definitely a very helpful tutorial for figuring out how to get started, which for me was the hardest part.
This is a /great/ tutorial. But I have a question: In the flatting stage, do you have any tips for getting smooth edges? That's always where I have trouble and I never manage to get any farther.
